Replacement
WARNING:^ Fuel line spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete the "Fuel Line Safety Procedures," refer to Powertrain Management.
^ Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can very easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep sparks and flames away from fuel.
CAUTION:
^ Cover the fuel hoses with a rag because fuel will spray out when disconnected.
NOTE:
^ Plug the disconnected fuel hoses to prevent fuel leakage.
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant, refer to Cooling System.
3. Remove the transmission, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal indicated in the table.
6. Install the transmission.
7. Install the splash shield.
8. If the engine oil was drained, fill with the specified amount and type of engine oil, refer to maintenance.
9. Fill the radiator with the specified amount and type of engine coolant.
10 If the transmission oil was drained, fill with the specified amount and type of transmission oil.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Start the engine and:
a. check the engine oil, transmission oil, and engine coolant leakage.
b. check the ignition timing and idle speed.
c. check the operation of the emission control system.
13. Perform a road test.
14. Recheck the engine oil and engine coolant levels.
