With Automatic Transaxle
NOTE: Verify that proper vehicle connectors are connected to all solenoid valves.1. Connect the Special Service Tool (SST) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
2. Start the engine.
3. Drive the vehicle and verify that the battery positive voltage (B+) exists at PCM terminals 72 and 68 while the engine is still cold.
4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
5. Drive the vehicle and verify that voltage at PCM terminals 72 and 68 changed.
6. Stop the vehicle and run the engine at idle.
7. Ground the PCM terminal 72 by using a jumper wire.
8. Verify that the engine runs roughly or stalls at idle.
9. If engine speed will not change, stop the engine and do as follows:
- Check for loose or damaged vacuum hose.
- Check EGR valve.
- Check [1][2]EGR solenoid valves. (vent, vacuum).
- Check wiring between EGR solenoid valve (vacuum) and PCM terminal 72.
