Fuel Pump Operation Inspection

Special Service Tool New Generation Star Tester Connected to Data Link Connector 2:

1. Connect the Special Service Tools New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector-2.
2. Remove the fuel filler cap.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.




4. Select the SIMULATION TEST function on the NGS display.
5. Turn the fuel pump relay from OFF to ON by using the "FP RLY". Operate the fuel pump relay and check if operation sound of the fuel pump is heard.
a. If the operation sound is heard, do as follows.




- With ignition switch at ON, there is battery positive voltage at terminal B of the fuel pump connector (harness side).
- If the voltage is correct, check the continuity of the fuel pump.
- If the voltage is not correct, check the wiring harnesses and connectors (Fuel pump relay - Fuel pump).

b. If the operation sound is not heard, check the following.
- Fuel pump relay
- Wiring harnesses and connectors (Main relay - Fuel pump relay - PCM)
