CAMBER ADJUSTMENT
BULLETIN NOTE
This bulletin supersedes 02-002/00, issued 06/23/00. The REPAIR PROCEDURE section of this bulletin has been revised.
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
All 1995-1998 Protege and all 2000-2001 MPV.
DESCRIPTION
This bulletin explains camber adjustment procedures for 1995-1998 Protege and 2000-2001 MPV. The current Workshop Manual does not indicate how to use an adjusting washer in combination with an adjusting bolt during camber adjustment procedures.
When adjusting camber, use the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1995-1998 Protege
1. Place the vehicle on a lift and remove wheel.
2. Loosen UPPER pivot bolt.
3. Remove the LOWER adjusting bolt and replace it with the modified adjusting bolt and adjusting washer as shown.
- If adjusting to NEGATIVE camber, install the adjusting washer with the claw facing TOWARD the shock absorber.
- If adjusting to POSITIVE camber, install the adjusting washer with the claw facing AWAY from the shock absorber.
Note
^ Be sure the adjusting washer claw is installed inside the bolt hole.
^ The camber adjusting range is 23 minutes.
4. Tighten both the adjusting bolt and pivot bolt.
Tightening torque
103-126 N.m (10.5-12.9 kgf.m)
2000-2001 MPV
1. Place the vehicle on a lift and remove wheel.
2. Loosen LOWER pivot bolt.
3. Remove the UPPER bolt as shown and replace it with an adjusting bolt and adjusting washer.
- If adjusting to NEGATIVE camber, install the adjusting washer with the claw facing AWAY from the shock absorber.
- If adjusting to POSITIVE camber, install the adjusting washer with the claw facing TOWARD the shock absorber.
Note
^ Be sure the adjusting washer claw is installed inside the bolt hole.
^ The camber adjusting range is 30 minutes.
4. Tighten both the adjusting bolt and pivot bolt.
Tightening torque
103-122 N.m (10.5-12.5 kgf.m)
