Sunroof / Moonroof: Service and Repair

DEFLECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



1. Open the glass panel.
2. Remove the link from the link connector.
3. Remove the deflector installation screws and remove the deflector.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

LOWER PANEL COVER
1. Open the sunshade fully.
2. Close the glass panel.
3. Pull the lower panel cover downward to disengage clips A from the lower panel.




4. Side the lower panel cover inside to disengage clips B from the lower panel.
5. Remove the lower panel cover.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

GLASS PANEL REMOVAL
1. Remove the lower panel cover.
2. Remove the glass panel installation nuts and remove the glass panel.

GLASS PANEL INSTALLATION
1. Install the glass panel installation nuts.

Tightening torque
7.9-10.7 N.m
( 80-110 kgf.cm , 69.5-95.4 in.lbf)

2. Adjust the glass panel.
3. Install the lower panel cover.

GLASS PANEL ADJUSTMENT
1. Measure the gap and height between the glass panel and body panel.




2. If not as specified, adjust the gap and height.

Gap adjustment
1. Open the glass panel about 100 mm (3.9 in) from the fully closed position.
2. Pull up on the weatherstrip surrounding the section which is to be measured.
3. Fully close the glass panel.
4. Remove the lower panel cover.
5. Loosen the glass panel installation nuts and reposition the glass panel.
6. Tighten the glass panel installation nuts.

Tightening torque
7.9 - 10.7 N.m
(80 - 110 kgf.cm, 69.5 - 95.4 in.lbf)

7. Install the lower panel cover.
8. Open the glass panel and install the weatherstrip.

Height adjustment
1. Open the glass panel about 100 mm ( 3.9 in ) from the fully closed position.
2. Pull up on the weatherstrip surrounding the section which is to be measured.
3. Fully close the glass panel.
4. Remove the lower panel cover.
5. Loosen the lower panel installation screws and reposition the glass panel.
6. Tighten the lower panel installation screws.

Tightening torque
2.5-3.4 N.m ( 25-35 kgf.cm ,22-30 in.lbf )

7. Install the lower panel cover.
8. Open the glass panel and install the weatherstrip.

WEATHER STRIP REMOVAL
1. Remove the lower panel cover.
2. Remove the glass panel.
3. Pull up the weatherstrip and remove the weatherstrip.

WEATHER STRIP INSTALLATION
1. Install the weatherstrip.
2. Install the glass panel.

REAR GUIDE STOPPER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the headliner.
2. Remove the lower panel cover.
3. Remove the glass panel.
4. Remove the drip rail.
5. Remove the rear guide stopper installation screw and remove the rear guide stopper.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.

LOWER PANEL REMOVAL
1. Remove the lower panel cover.
2. Remove the glass panel.
3. Remove the lower panel installation screws and remove the lower panel.

LOWER PANEL INSTALLATION
1. Install the lower panel installation screws.

Tightening torque
2.5-3.4 N.m ( 25-35 kgf.cm , 22-30 in.lbf )

2. Install the glass panel.

DRIP RAIL REMOVAL
1. Remove the lower panel cover.
2. Remove glass panel.
3. Remove the drip rail installation screws and remove the drip rail.

DRIP RAIL INSTALLATION
1. Install the drip rail installation screws.
2. Install the glass panel.

SUNSHADE REMOVAL



1. Remove the lower panel cover.
2. Remove the glass panel.
3. Remove the sunshade pins from the groove in the frame by using a flathead screwdriver which has been wrapped in tape and remove the sunshade.

SUNSHADE INSTALLATION
1. Install the sunshade pins from the groove in the frame.
2. Install the glass panel.

FRONT DRAIN HOSE REMOVAL



1. Remove the headliner.
2. Remove the front drain hose from the clips.
3. Pull the front drain hose into the room side and remove the front drain hose.

FRONT DRAIN HOSE INSTALLATION
1. Apply soapy water to the front drain hose.
2. Insert one end of the drain hose into the sunroof frame, set the hose along the clips and insert the other end into the hinge pillar inner hole.
3. Install the headliner.

REAR DRAIN HOSE REMOVAL



1. Remove the headliner.
2. Remove the rear drain hose from the clips.
3. Pull the rear drain hose into the room side and remove the rear drain hose.

REAR DRAIN HOSE INSTALLATION
1. Apply soapy water to the rear drain hose.
2. Insert one end of the drain hose into the sunroof frame, set the hose along the clips and insert the other end into the side frame outer hole.
3. Install the headliner.

GUIDE RAIL COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the headliner.
2. Remove the sunroof frame.
3. Pull the guide rail cover upward to disengage the clips and remove the guide rail cover.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

FRONT GUIDE STOPPER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the deflector.
2. Pull the front guide stopper upward to disengage the clip and remove the front guide stopper.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

LINK CONNECTOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



1. Remove the deflector.
2. Lift the link connector by using a flathead screwdriver and remove the link connector.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

GUIDE UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



1. Remove the deflector.
2. Remove the lower panel.
3. Remove the guide rail cover.
4. Remove the front guide stopper.
5. Remove the sunroof motor.
6. Push the front of the retaining hook to disengage it from the frame and then pull the guide unit to remove it.

GUIDE UNIT INSTALLATION
1. Grease the contact area of the guide unit.




2. Insert the cable into the channel of the guide rail.




3. Verify that the spring is onto the retaining hook when the guide unit is inserted into the guide rail.
4. Install the sunroof motor.
5. Install the front guide stopper.
6. Install the guide rail cover.
7. Install the lower panel.
8. Install the deflector.

SUNROOF FRAME REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove the headliner.
2. Remove the front and rear drain hose from the sunroof frame.
3. Remove the room light harness clips.
4. Remove the sunroof frame installation bolt and nuts and remove the sunroof frame.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque
7.9-10.7 N.m
( 80-110 kgf.cm , 69.5-95.4 in.lbf )
