Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the air cleaner, refer to Powertrain Management.
4. Remove in the following order.
a. Thermostat cover (1).
b. Thermostat (2).
5. Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:





^ Install the thermostat into the cylinder head with the jiggle pin at the top.





^ Install a new gasket with the seal print side facing the cylinder head.
6. Install the air cleaner.
7. Fill the radiator and radiator reservoir with the specified amount and type of engine coolant.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
