Exhaust System: Service and Repair
Exhaust System:
REPLACEMENT
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the condenser fan. refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
3. Remove in the order indicated the table, noting the following:
a. Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the air hose, refer to Powertrain Management.
b. Remove the water bypass stay bolt.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
a. Hand tighten bolts and nuts in the order shown.
b. Tighten nut C to 38-51 Nm (28-38 ft. lbs.).
c. Check for correct alignment at E (front pipe and bracket) and at (block and bracket).
d. Check for correct alignment at F, then tighten bolt D to 9-10.7 Nm (69.5-95.4 inch lbs.).
e. Verify that C (flange and bracket) contacts with B (block and bracket), then tighten nut A to 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft. lbs.).
f. Tighten bolt B to 38-51 Nm (28-38 ft. lbs.).
