Condenser Fan Relay Inspection
Condenser Fan Relay Inspection1. Verify that engine is cold and the A/C switch and fan switch are OFF.
2. Start the engine and let it idle.
3. Verify that the condenser fan is not operating.
4. If the condenser fan is operating, check the short circuit in wiring between condenser fan relay and PCM.
5. Turn the A/C switch and fan switch on.
6. Verify that the condenser fan is operating.
7. Turn the A/C switch and fan switch off.
8. If the condenser fan does not operate, do as follows
Special Service Tool New Generation Star Tester Connected to Data Link Connector 2:
a. Connect the Special Service Tools New Generation Star (NGS) tester to the data link connector 2.
b. Select the SIMULATION TEST function on the NGS display.
c. Turn the condenser fan relay from OFF to ON by using the "A/C RLY" (MTX) or "FANN" (ATX) and check for the condenser fan operation.
d. If the condenser fan operates check the PCM terminal voltage - A/C signal.
e. If the condenser fan does not operate, do as follows.
I. Turn the condenser fan relay from OFF to ON by using the simulation function. Operate the condenser fan relay and check it the operation sound of the relay is heard.
II. If the operation sound is heard, check the following.
- Wiring harness and connectors (Condenser fan relay - Condenser fan motor).
- Condenser fan motor.
III. If the operation sound is not heard, check the following.
- Condenser fan relay.
- Open circuit in wiring harness and connectors (Battery - Condenser fan relay - PCM).
