Air Bag Systems: Service and Repair: General Procedures
Before Servicing1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for more than one minute to allow the backup power supply to deplete its stored power.
3. Remove the lower panel.
Air Bag System General Procedure:
4. Disconnect the clock spring connector.
5. Remove the passenger's side front scuff plate.
6. Remove the passenger's side front side trim.
Air Bag System General Procedure:
7. Disconnect the passenger-side air bag module connector.
After Servicing
1. Connect the passenger-side air bag module connector.
2. Reinstall the passenger's side front side trim.
3. Reinstall the passenger's side front scuff plate.
4. Connect the clock spring connector.
5. Reinstall the lower panel.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Air Bag System General Procedure:
8. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds and then goes off.
9. If the air bag system warning light remains on, off, or repeats flashing after servicing, there are malfunctions in the system. Troubleshoot the system.
