1995 - 97 Protege
DESCRIPTION
A knocking / clunk noise may be heard from the front of the vehicle when turning at low speeds. The noise may be caused by the stabilizer bar shifting, causing the top stud of the control link to come in contact with the cross member.
The stabilizer has been modified to prevent contact.
Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Check for contact marks between the cross member and top stud of the control link. Inspect both sides. Refer to Fig. 1.
^ If contact marks exist, replace the stabilizer bar with a modified part.
^ If no marks are present, refer to the workshop manual or NVH manual for troubleshooting and repair information.
