D Range Test

D RANGE (O/D OFF SWITCH OFF)
1. Shift the selector lever to D range.
2. Accelerate the vehicle to half throttle and wide open throttle.
3. Verify that 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 upshifts and downshifts are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table illustrated.
4. Drive the vehicle in fourth, third, and second gears and verify that kickdown occurs for 4->3, 4->2, 3->2, 3->1, 2->1, and that the shift points are as shown in the table illustrated.
5. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that engine braking effect is felt in fourth and third gears.

NOTE: There is torque converter clutch non-operation in the following conditions.
a. The engine coolant temperature is below 62°C (144°F).
b. The closed throttle position switch is ON.
c. The brake switch is ON.

6. Drive the vehicle and verify that torque converter clutch operation is obtained.

D RANGE (O/D OFF SWITCH ON)
1. Turn the O/D OFF switch from OFF to ON.
2. Accelerate the vehicle to half throttle and wide open throttle, and verify that 1-2 and 2-3 upshift and downshift are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table illustrated.
3. Drive the vehicle in third and second gears and verify that kickdown occurs for 3->2, 3->1, 2->1, and that the shift points are as shown in the table illustrated.
4. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that engine braking effect is felt in third gear.
