Keyless Entry Transmitter Battery: Testing and Inspection

NOTE:
^ If the battery is not subject to load it cannot be properly inspected.
^ A correct measurement cannot be obtained when the battery temperature is low. If the inspection result is below the standard voltage, inspect it again after it has been at 18° C {64° F} or more for at least 30 minutes.
^ There is an auto power off function in the transmitter, so be sure to read the voltage within 0.5 seconds after pushing the button.
^ If the transmitter is malfunctioning, the battery cannot be properly inspected.

1. Remove the transmitter cover.




2. Connect the positive (+) lead of the voltmeter to the positive (+) terminal of the transmitter and the negative (-) lead to the circuit element.
3. Push any button of transmitter 10 times or more in every 1 second and measure the voltage every time.
4. Compare the minimum voltage to the standard voltage.

Standard voltage
2.8 V or more

5. If not as specified, replace he transmitter battery.
6. If as specified and the keyless entry system does not function, perform to symptom troubleshooting.
