DESCRIPTION
The trunk lid on some vehicles maybe hard to close. This could be caused by one or more of the following conditions:
^ Trunk weatherstrip is improperly installed or seated.
^ Striker plate is too low.
^ Striker plate is not aligned with the center of the trunk latch.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Inspect the trunk weatherstrip and verify that it is properly seated into the rear weatherstrip flange.
Note
^ Be sure the weatherstrip is installed flush to the inner trunk plastic trim and not installed over the lip of the trim as shown below in the cross-sectional illustration
3. Inspect the striker plate and latch for proper alignment. Center the striker plate to the center of the trunk latch if necessary.
4. Adjust the striker plate upward by 1 mm. Make sure the latch is kept parallel to the center of the trunk latch opening.
Tightening torque
Tightening Torque: 12.7 Nm (130 kgf.cm, 112 in. lbs.)
Note
^ Proper torque specification must be observed to prevent future striker movement.
5. Verify repair.
