Traction Control System
TCS OPERATION INSPECTION1. Place the front wheels on a chassis roller or jack up the front of the vehicle on level ground and support it on safety stands.
2. Start the engine, and verify that the TCS OFF light is out.
NOTE: In order to protect the engine, if engine coolant temperature is extremely low, TCS control is temporarily interrupted until the engine coolant temperature rises. In such cases, the TCS OFF light illuminates.
3. If the light stays on after the engine is started and reaches normal operating temperature, the ABS/TCS control module detects a failure. In that case, turn off the engine and follow the troubleshooting procedures.
4. Shift the transaxle to second (MTX) or D range (ATX).
5. Depress the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds, and verify that the engine speed is held low and the TCS indicator light is flashing.
NOTE: If the front wheels rotate for 60 seconds or more, the ABS warning light, TCS indicator light and TCS OFF lights illuminate, and the engine speed increases. In that case, turn the ignition switch to OFF and ON again, then drive the vehicle faster than 10 km/h (6.2 mph). Verify that those lights go out. ABS/TCS CM does not memorize Diagnostic Trouble Code.
6. If not as described, follow the troubleshooting procedures.
