Engine Control Module: Service and Repair
CAUTION: PCM is sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result. If service of PCM is required, use the following safeguards to avoid damage to components.1. Leave the PCM in their original packaging until ready to install in vehicles.
2. Avoid touching PCM connector pins.
3. Avoid laying modules on nonconductive surfaces.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the rear console.
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
PCM Removal Note
- The PCM stores information on vehicle operating conditions including information to compensate for component tolerances. When an emission related component is replaced, Keep Alive Memory (KAM) in the PCM should be cleared by disconnecting the battery terminal to erase the stored information on the original component.
