DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a tapping noise which can be heard coming from the rear of the vehicle within the first 10 minutes after a cold start. This concern may be caused by the operation of the CDCV (Canister Drain Cut Valve) solenoid during the evaporative emission monitor

Note
- This noise may be difficult to duplicate under normal driving conditions. However, it can be duplicated using the procedure in STEP 1 below. It is recommended that the customer be present when the technician attempts to verify this noise.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

- Connect the NGS tester and select ACTIVE COMMAND MODE.

- Select the EVAPCV PID and press START

- Change the mode to ALL OFF

- Press START to cycle the CDCV solenoid valve ON. Pressing STOP will cycle the valve OFF

Note
- If necessary, this cycle can be repeated in an attempt to verify the noise.

2. Remove the nut securing the CDCV to the vehicle and remove the CDCV.

3. Connect the CDCV to the threaded rubber insulator of the new bracket.

Note
- Before CDCV is installed on to the threaded rubber insulator, the insulator must be moved to the opposite side of the bracket.

4. Attach the bracket and CDCV to the vehicle.

5. Verify repair
