REAR BRAKE SQUEAL NOISE (DRUM BRAKES)

All 1998-99 626 with VINs lower than 1YV GF22C* X5 875297.

DESCRIPTION
A squeal noise comes from the rear drum brakes during normal to medium braking effort. The noise usually occurs during the last 20-30 feet of braking when the brakes are warm. Modified parts are now available to correct this symptom.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Replace the rear brake shoes with modified parts according to the Workshop Manual.

3. Verify repair.
