Console: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

WARNING: Handling the air bag module improperly can accidently deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS, before handling the air bag module




2. Remove in the order indicated in the table. To remove the dashboard, remove the A-pillar trim and the selector lever.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Rear Console Box Removal Note




^ Remove the rear console box by using a screwdriver which has been wrapped in tape.

Brake Boot Removal Note




^ Remove the brake boot installation screws.

Center Panel Removal Note




1. Remove the screws.
2. Pull the center panel to disengage the clips.

Rear Console Removal Note




^ Remove the rear console installation screws and nuts.

Meter Hood Removal Note
1. Tilt the steering shaft down.
2. Remove the cap and panel light control switch.




3. Remove the meter hood installation screws.
4. Pull the meter hood to disengage the clips.

Steering Shaft Removal Note




^ Remove the steering shaft installation bolts.

Side Panel Removal Note




^ Pull the side panel to disengage pins and the clips.

Dashboard Removal Note




1. Pull the dashboard up and forward to remove it.
2. Disconnect the harness connectors.

Dashboard Installation Note




^ Set the dashboard installation pin into its hole.
