SAE Terminology

SAE STANDARDS
In accordance with new regulations, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standard names and abbreviations are used throughout this vehicle's diagnostic information. The table below lists the names and abbreviations that have been used by the vehicle manufacturer up to now and their SAE equivalents.





#1: Directly connected to the exhaust manifold
#2: In some models, there is a fuel pump relay that controls pump speed. That relay is now called the fuel pump relay (speed).
#3: Controlled by the ECM (PCM)
#4: Device that controls the engine and powertrain





#5: Diagnostic trouble codes depend on the diagnostic test mode
