Instrument Cluster

Speedometer
Using NGS
1. Remove the instrument cluster.

2. Connect the output terminal of the SST (NGS set) to the 2D terminal of the instrument cluster connector.
3. Connect the instrument cluster connector.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
5. Connect the red lead of the SST (NGS set) to positive terminal of the battery and ground the black lead to the vehicle body.
6. Select "DIGITAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEM".
7. Select "SIGNAL SIMULATION".
8. Set the values shown below for the corresponding item.
LOW LEVEL : 0V
HIGH LEVEL : 6V
DUTY CYCLE : 50%
COUPLING : AC
9. Set "FREQUENCY" as indicated below.
10. Push "START".

11. Verify that the speedometer indication is within the allowable range shown in the speedometer indication list.
12. If not as specified, replace the speedometer.

Using speedometer tester
1. Move the vehicle onto a speedometer tester.

2. Raise the vehicle speed and verify that the speedometer needle corresponds to the tester needle.
3. If the speedometer does not operate or the indication error is excessive, check the vehicle speedometer sensor and wiring harness.

4. If the vehicle speedometer sensor and wiring harness are normal, replace the speedometer.

Tachometer

1. Connect the SST (NGS set) to the data link connector-2 and battery.
2. Referring to the NGS operation manual, select the "PID DATA MONITOR" function.
3. Using the "PID DATA MONITOR" function, measure the engine speed.

4. Compare the values of the vehicle tachometer and the SST (NGS set)
5. If not as specified, inspect the wiring harness (PCM-instrument cluster)
6. If the wiring harness is normal, replace the tachometer.

Water Temperature Gauge
1. Remove the instrument cluster.
2. Connect battery positive voltage to terminal 2G and ground to terminal 2L of the instrument cluster.

3. Connect the positive lead of the SST (Fuel & Thermometer Checker) to terminal 2E of the instrument cluster and ground to the negative lead.

4. Verify that the gauge indicates the values shown in the figure.
5. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges.

Fuel Gauge
1. Remove the instrument cluster.
2. Connect the battery positive voltage to terminal 2G and ground to terminal 2L of the instrument cluster.

3. Connect the positive lead of the SST (Fuel & Thermometer Checker) to terminal 2N of the instrument cluster and ground to the negative lead and wait for more than 10 minutes until the needle stop moving.

4. Verify that the gauge indicates the values shown in the figure.
5. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges.

Print plate No.2
1. Disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for more than 31 seconds.
3. Verify that the fuel-level warning light illuminates.
4. If the fuel-level warning light does not illuminate, remove the instrument cluster.
5. Inspect the fuel-level warning light bulb, print plate, wiring harness between instrument cluster and fuel indicator module.
6. Connect the battery positive voltage to terminal C and ground to terminal B of instrument cluster.
7. Connect the positive lead of the SST (Fuel & Thermometer Checker) to terminal A of instrument cluster and ground to the negative lead.

8. Verify that the fuel gauge indicates as follows.
9. If not as specified, replace the print plate No.2.
