DESCRIPTION

A rattling noise is heard from the exhaust system during acceleration at approximately 1,900 - 2,000 rpm/50 m.p.h. This can be caused by the deterioration of the steel wool inside the pre-silencer creating a clearance between the set plate and exhaust pipe. A modified pre-silencer is available which has the set plate and exhaust pipe press-fitted to eliminate this condition.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Inspect bolts, nuts, and insulators around the pre-silencer for looseness.

- If loose, retighten to specification and proceed to STEP 4.
- If not loose, proceed to STEP 3.

3. Replace pre-silencer.

4. Verify repair.
