Component Tests and General Diagnostics
Speedometer1. Using service code 12 with the instrument cluster in input/output check mode, verify that the speedometer works properly.
2. If not as specified, replace the speedometer.
Tachometer
1. Using service code 13 with the instrument cluster in input/output check mode, verify that the tachometer works properly.
2. If not as specified, replace the speedometer.
Fuel Gauge
1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
2. Remove the fuel pump cover.
3. Disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit connector.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 4 minutes.
5. Verify that the needle indicates E.
6. Ground the terminal A of the fuel gauge sender unit's vehicle side connector and wait for 4 minutes.
7. Verify that the needle indicates F.
8. If the fuel gauge needle does not move or moves unusually, remove the instrument cluster.
9. Loosen the screws for the A, B, and C terminals.
NOTE:
^ If the screw is loosened excessively, it will disengage from the fuel gauge, and you will not be able to measure the resistance properly.
10. Measure the resistance between the fuel gauge terminals by using an ohmmeter.
11. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges (with tachometer) or fuel gauge (without tachometer).
Water Temperature Gauge
1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.
2. Verify that the needle indicates C when the ignition switch is turned to ON.
3. Verify that the needle indicates H when the terminal C of the engine coolant temperature sensor's vehicle side connector is grounded.
4. If the water temperature gauge needle does not move or moves unusually, remove the instrument cluster.
5. Loosen the screws for the A, B, and C terminals.
NOTE:
^ If the screw is loosened excessively, it will disengage from the water temperature gauge, and you will not be able to measure the resistance properly.
6. Measure the resistance between the water temperature gauge terminals by using an ohmmeter
7. If not as specified, replace the fuel and water temperature gauges (with tachometer) or water temperature gauge (without tachometer).
