Exhaust System: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the condenser fan.
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.

HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION NOTE





^ Remove and install the heated oxygen sensor by using the SST.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD REMOVAL NOTE
1. Remove the air cleaner and disconnect the air hose.





2. Remove the water bypass pipe stay bolt.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD INSTALLATION NOTE





^ To install the exhaust manifold gasket, make sure that the convex side of the gasket is faced to the exhaust manifold side.

FRONT PIPE INSTALLATION NOTE
1. Hand tighten bolts and nuts in the order shown.
2. Tighten nut C.

Tightening torque:
38 - 51 Nm (28 - 38 ft. lbs.)

3. Inspect for correct alignment at E (front pipe and bracket) and at B (block and bracket).
4. Inspect for correct alignment at F. then tighten bolt D.

Tightening torque:
7.9 - 10.7 Nm (69.5 - 95.4 inch lbs.)

5. Verify that A (flange and bracket) contacts with B (block and bracket), then tighten nut A.

Tightening torque:
19 - 25 Nm (14 - 18 ft. lbs.)








6. Tighten bolt B.

Tightening torque:
38 - 51 Nm (28 - 38 ft. lbs.)
