REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
CAUTION: Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, remove the ABS wheel-speed sensor (axle side) and fix it to an appropriate place where the sensor will not be pulled by mistake while serviceing the vehicle.
1. Remove in the order indicated in the illustration, noting the following steps.
2. Install in the reverse order of removal indicated in the illustration, noting the following steps.
Engine Mounting Member Removal Note (5)
1. Support the engine by using the Special Service Tool (SST).
2. Remove the engine mounting member nuts.
Lower Arm, Front Crossmember, And Steering Gear Component Removal Note (8)
1. Support the crossmember by using a jack being careful to not let the crossmember fall, and remove the bolts and nuts.
2. Remove the lower arm, the front crossmember, and steering gear component.
Stabilizer Bushing And Bracket Installation Note (10 & 11)
1. Apply rubber grease to the inside surface of the stabilizer bushing.
2. Install the stabilizer bracket in the direction shown.
STABILIZER CONTROL LINK INSPECTION
Inspect the following and replace if necessary.
1. Inspect for bending and damage.
2. Measure the ball joint starting torque.
a. Rock the ball joint stud side to side 10 times.
b. Rotate the ball joint stud 10 times.
c. Measure the starting torque by using a suitable Allen socket and a torque wrench.
Starting torque: 0.1 - 1.9 Nm (0.9 - 17 inch lbs.).
