Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Primary coil winding
1. Disconnect the distributor 3-pin connector.




2. Measure the resistance between terminals A a B by using an ohmmeter.

Specification
0.49 - 0.73 Ohm [20° C {68° F}]

3. If not as specified, replace the distributor.

Secondary coil winding
1. Disconnect the distributor 3-pin connector.
2. Remove the distributor cap.




3. Measure the resistance as shown in the figure by using an ohmmeter.

Specification
20 - 31 kOhm[20° C{68° F}]

4. If not as specified, replace the distributor.
