DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit MIL illumination with DTC P0461 stored in memory. This may be caused by refueling the vehicle while the engine is running. An updated PCM calibration is now available to address this concern.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern by confirming MIL is on and/or DTC P0461 is stored in memory.

Note:
^ Be sure to note the Freeze Frame Data (FFD) for the VSS PID.

^ The MIL will go off after the following drive cycle is completed without the customer refueling with the engine running. Always check for stored DTCs.

2. Use the FFD for the VSS PID with the following information:

- If FFD shows VSS = 0 MPH, the vehicle may have been refueled while the engine was running. Advise the customer to always shut off the engine before refueling as recommended in the Owner's Manual.

- If FFD shows VSS greater than 0 MPH, indicating that the vehicle was being driven at the time the DTC was stored, continue diagnosing the Fuel Level Input circuit according to the Workshop Manual (section 01-02A for FS) or (section 01-02B for KL).

3. Reprogram PCM to the latest calibration available on WDS.

4. Clear any DTCs stored during reprogramming.

5. Verify repair.
