Removal and Installation
STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION1. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
2. Install in the reverse order of removal.
STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL NOTE
Caution: Do not try to remove the steering wheel by hitting the shaft with a hammer. The column will collapse.
1. Set the vehicle in the straight-ahead position.
2. Remove the steering wheel by using a suitable puller.
INTERMEDIATE SHAFT INSTALLATION NOTE
Caution: Do not apply the shock in the axial direction of the shaft.
Note: If the tilt lever does not move easily, loosen the D nuts, tap the lower bracket at the point shown and retighten.
1. Tighten bolt A after tightening bolt B.
2. Tighten bolt C with the steering shaft at its upper most tilt position.
3. After installation, lightly tap the lower bracket at the point shown by using a hammer to verify correct installation.
STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION NOTE
^ Set the wheels in the straight-ahead position, and install the steering wheel.
