DTCs Reading Procedures
NOTE: This is the only information provided by the manufacturer for reading trouble codes for this system.NOTE:
- This is a generic function.
- Start engine and keep it running. If engine will not start, turn the ignition key to ON (Engine OFF) during the procedure.
1. Perform the necessary vehicle preparation and visual inspection.
2. Hook the NGS Tester up to the vehicle.
3. Move the cursor to GENERIC OBD II FUNCTIONS.
4. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
5. Press CONT.
6. Turn the menu dial clockwise to scroll the screen.
7. Move the cursor to PENDING TROUBLE CODES.
8. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
9. Press START.
10. Retrieve PENDING TROUBLE CODE.
NOTE: If the "NO DTCS AVAILABLE/NO RESPONSE" message is shown on the screen, be sure to run the PID DATA MONITOR in GENERIC OBD II FUNCTIONS and confirm that the "LINK COMMUNICATION ERROR. MODULE NOT RESPONDING. CHECK IGNITION STATUS AND CABLE CONNECTIONS" message does not appear.
NOTE:

3. Move the cursor to VEHICLE & ENGINE SELECTION.
4. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
5. Move the cursor to SELECT NEW VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL.
6. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
7. Move the cursor to 2000-VIN # 10:X.
8. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
9. Move the cursor to the appropriate model.
10. Press the TRIGGER key to chose the model.
NOTE:
- Make sure the selected vehicle is correct.
- A vehicle selection screen showing the selected vehicle will be displayed.
11. Move the cursor to the vehicle selected.
12. Press the TRIGGER key.
13. Move the cursor to DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK on the main menu screen.
14. Press the TRIGGER key to enter into menu system diagnostics.
15. Move the cursor to PCM - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE.
16. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
17. Move the cursor to DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES.
18. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
19. Move the cursor to READ/CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC TEST RESULTS.
20. Press the TRIGGER key to enter this selection.
21. Press START.
22. Retrieve DTCs.
