Subject:
CANNOT ACCESS FLI AND WAC PIDS FOR DIAGNOSIS

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VIN(s)
All 2000 626 (KL) with VINs lower than 1YVGF22D*Y5128000.

DESCRIPTION

When diagnosing a concern where it is necessary to check the Fuel Level (FLI) or A/C relay condition (WAG), it may not be possible to access the FLI or WAG PIDs (refer to table below). Some early production vehicles do not have the correct programming in the PCM to support these PID functions. See PART(S) INFORMATION.

NOTE:
^ The FLI PID on these vehicles will always indicate 184% regardless of fuel level and the WAG PID will not correctly indicate A/C relay condition. THIS DOES NOT REQUIRE PCM REPLACEMENT. This condition relates to retrieval of diagnostic information only and does not affect vehicle performance or cause a MIL or DTC to be set.

When diagnosing a concern where it is necessary to check the fuel level (FLI) or NC relay condition (WAG) on one of these vehicles, use the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

FLI PID
1. Connect NGS tester to DLC (Data Link Connector).

2. Use the FLI V PID value from the NGS tester along with the graph to determine the FLI%.

A/C Relay

1. Remove the center panel to gain access to the PCM and disconnect the PCM harness. See Workshop Manual (section 09-17 INTERIOR TRIM).

2. Connect the 104 Pin Breakout Box (SST 49 UN01 130) according to the Workshop Manual (section 01-40B CONTROL SYSTEM [KL]).

3. Using a DVOM (digital volt meter), check the voltage between terminal 69 and ground.

4. Check the ON/OFF operation of the NC relay using the conditions and voltages in the table.

5. Remove the 104 Pin Breakout Box and reinstall the components in reverse order.

PART(S) INFORMATION

NOTE:
The NEW parts listed allow access to FLI and WAC PIDs. DO NOT REPLACE OLD PARTS for this concern. This information is being provided as a reference to identify new and old parts.
