Description of On-Board Diagnostics

AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD)

On-board Diagnostic (OBD) Test Description

1. The OBD function in the A/C amplifier locates and indicates malfunctions in the control system.
2. The OBD function has 3 steps.
- Present diagnostic test mode
- Electrical faults presently occurring in the control system are detected and indicated as DTC.

- Past diagnostic test mode
- Electrical faults that previously occurred in the control system (intermittent problems) are detected and indicated as DTC.

- Output device operation check mode
- All output devices are made to operate individually according to a designated pattern.

3. The OBD function works as shown below. To turn off the OBD function, turn off the ignition switch.

NOTE: Make sure that the ignition switch is at LOCK.




1. Insert the SST (49 T088 002) and the SST (program card version 8.0 or later) into the SST (49 T088 001).
2. Connect the SST (49 T088 005) to the SST (49 T088 002).
3. Connect the SST (49 T088 003) to the SST (49 T088 005).
4. Connect the SST (49 T088 003) to the DLC.
5. Connect the SST (49 T088 006) to the SST (49 T088 002).
6. Connect the SST (49 T088 006) to the battery.
