Trunk / Liftgate: Service and Repair

TRUNK LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING: Removing the trunk lid without supporting it can be dangerous. The trunk lid may fail and injure you. Always perform these procedures together with at least another person.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. To remove the trunk lid hinge, remove the rear package trim.




3. Remove in the order indicated below.
1. Connector
3. Balance spring
3. Trunk lid
4. Trunk lid hinge

4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
5. Adjust the trunk lid.

Balance Spring Removal Note

NOTE: The balance springs are under high tension.

1. Push the tab of the clip to open the cover using a tape-wrapped_flathead screwdriver.




2. Remove the balance springs from the clip.




3. Remove the balance spring from the tank lid hinge using a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver.
