Cylinder Block (II) Disassembly/Assembly
CYLINDER BLOCK (ll) DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY1. Disassemble in the order indicated in the table.
2. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.
Connecting Rod Cap Disassembly Note
- Before removing the connecting rod cap, measure the side clearance of the connecting rod large end.
Piston And Connecting Rod Disassembly Note
- Before removing the piston and connecting rod, measure the connecting rod oil clearance.
Piston Pin Disassembly Note
1. Assemble the SSTs as shown.
2. Insert SST No.2 into the piston pin as shown and fully screw in SST No.1.
3. Set the piston and connecting rod on the SSTs as shown.
4. Press out the piston pin.
Main Bearing Cap Disassembly Note
1. Before removing the main bearing cap, measure the end play.
Main Bearing Cap Disassembly Sequence:
2. Loosen the main bearing cap bolts a few turns in the order shown.
Crankshaft Disassembly Note
- Before removing the crankshaft, measure the crankshaft oil clearance.
Main Bearing Cap Assembly Note
Main Bearing Cap Assembly Sequence:
- Tighten the bolts a few turns in the order shown.
Piston Pin Assembly Note
1. Assemble the SSTs as shown.
2. Insert SST No.2 into the piston pin as shown and fully screw in SST No.1.
3. Set the SST (stopper bolt) so that dimension L is as specified.
Dimension L 61.35 mm (2.42 inch)
4. Apply clean engine oil to the piston pin.
5. Insert the piston pin and the SSTs assembled in Step 2 into the piston and connecting rod.
6. Press the piston pin into the piston and connecting rod until the SST (guide) contacts the SST (stopper bolt).
7. While inserting the piston pin, inspect the pressure force.
- If it is less than the specification, replace the piston pin or the connecting rod.
Pressure force 2.95 - 14.70 kN (300 - 1,500 kgf, 660 - 3,300 lbf)
Piston Ring Assembly Note
Caution: Install the second ring with the notch facing downward. Installing the second ring with the notch facing upward can cause oil pumping.
1. If there is an R or N mark on the top ring or second ring, install the top ring and second ring with the marks facing upward. If there is no mark, the top ring can be installed with either end facing upward. Install the second ring with the notch facing downward.
2. Position the end gap of the oil ring as shown.
Piston And Connecting Rod Assembly Note
1. F mark is facing the front of the engine.
2. Install the connecting rod caps with the alignment marks aligned.
