WIND NOISE FROM WINDSHIELD MOLDING

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
All 1999-2002 Protege and 2002 Protege5.

DESCRIPTION

A wind or whistling noise may be heard coming from the windshield while driving at highway speeds. This may be caused by air being pulled through the space between the top molding and the body.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.





2. To prevent paint damage, apply a strip of tape along the upper edge of the windshield opening.

3. Using a plastic or nylon putty knife, lift the top lip of the wind shield molding.





4. Insert the foam protector strip into the gap between the molding and the body.

5. Inspect the molding lip to make sure it has returned to it's original position, then remove tape.

6. Verify repair.
