Frequently Asked Dealer Questions
Notes:Confirm the vehicle needs the recall by performing a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry on eMDCS.
Follow all procedures as outlined in the Inspection and Repair procedures.
Q1. How do I order parts?
A1. To order parts after the initial parts shipment, fax an order form (found on ESI under RECALLS/SSPs) to Mazda Corporate Dealer Assistance Group.
To order a Fuel Tank, you must FIRST call the Technical Assistance hotline for authorization. Then write the authorization number on the order form and fax it to the Corporate Dealer Assistance Group. Mazda will ship parts as CSO orders, and freight will be reimbursed as a sublet on warranty claims. See the fax order form for the maximum order quantities for each part.
Q2. We broke/lost the green fuel line lock ring and/or the white plastic cage. How do I order these parts?
A2. Order these parts by faxing an order form (found on ESI under RECALLS/SSPs) to Mazda Corporate Dealer Assistance Group.
Q3. After receiving the initial parts shipment, how long will it take to get parts?
A3. Orders will be processed as Customer Satisfaction Orders (CSO).
Q4. I can't find RECALLS/SSPs on ESI.
A4. You likely need to resize your screen.
^ On the Windows Start menu (at the lower left of your screen), point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
^ Double-click the Display icon. Click the Settings tab.
^ Under Desktop area, drag the slider to change the screen resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels.
For assistance, contact the Mazda Systems Help Center.
Note:
Your monitor and video adapter determine whether you can change your screen resolution.
Q5. We didn't receive the inspection/repair procedures by e-mail. Where do we find them?
A5. Due to the sizes of the five files, they could not be e-mailed. The inspection and repair procedures are on ESI under RECALLS/SSPs.
1. Launch your internet browser and go to ESI.
2. Click on ESI and go to SSP/RECALLS.
3. Find "2003 MAZDA6 Fuel Odor Inspection & Repair Procedures."
Q6. Is the customer eligible to receive a rental car?
A6. Yes. Rental expenses incurred will require DSA or DCSM authorization if the rental exceeds two days or $26.00 per day, as outlined in the Rental Car Reimbursement Program.
Q7. What happens when the customer comes in with full tank of gas?
A7. Drain the fuel until the fuel gauge reads 1/2 or less using the draining method that your dealer currently uses. Keep a note on the amount of fuel that is drained. This fuel will need to be returned to the fuel tank. Mazda Service Equipment is recommending a 25-gallon gas caddy (P/N 256-00033) for siphoning and dispensing.
Q8. When will the customer part of the recall take place?
A8. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by first class mail beginning February 9, 2004.
