SQUEAKING NOISE FROM SEAT BACK DUE TO FRAME AND SPRING CONTACT

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a squeaking noise coming from the front seat back due to contact between the seat frame and seat frame spring.

Customers having these concerns should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer complaint.

2. Remove the headrest.

3. Remove the seat trim and seat back pad according to 2010 Mazda3 MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 09-13 FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).





4. Widen clamp (B) to remove spring (A).





5. Wrap vinyl tape (A) around clamped portion of spring.

6. Reinstall the spring back into the clamp; squeeze the clamp to secure the spring.

7. Shake the spring back and forth to ensure the base of the spring does not move.

8. Reinstall the seat back pad and seat trim according to 2010 Mazda3 MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual (section 09-13 FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

9. Reinstall the headrest.

10. Verify repair.
