ENGINE OIL FLUSHING PROCEDURE

DESCRIPTION

When the rotary engine is replaced because of smoke from tailpipe or internal engine noise, an oil flushing procedure needs to be done if metal particles are found in the engine oil. This is to remove metal particles from the oil cooler and the oil lines.





To see if there are metal particles in the engine oil, stir the drained oil with a latex protected finger or a stick. If a ~marble pattern~ can be seen, the oil is contaminated with metal particles.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. After installing the new engine in the vehicle, fill it with new oil and install a new oil filter.

2. Start the engine and let it idle for at least 10 minutes.

3. Turn the engine off and let it cool down.

4. Drain the engine oil and replace the oil filter with a new one.

5. Refill the engine with new oil - flushing completed.

^ This labor Operation is only applicable to the conditions described in this bulletin and applicable only to the 2004 to 2010 RX8.

^ Do not submit as a separate claim problem. The time must have separate time punch on the repair order.
