DESCRIPTION

Some customers may complain of an illuminated check engine light afier attempting to start the engine. DTC P0336 (Eccentric shaft position sensor range/performance) may be set in PCM memory.

The cause may be due to one or more of the following:

^ Loose/poor battery ground located on the front core support

^ Low or dead battery causing low output from Eccentric Shaft Position sensor

^ Damaged or or out of calibration Eccentric Shaft Position sensor.

If WDS P0336 Freeze Frame Data (FFD) indicates DTC set during engine starting conditions, repair vehicle using the following repair procedure. If WDS P0336 FFD indicates DTC set during other than engine starting conditions, repair vehicle using appropriate procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Remove engine cover and battery box cover.





3. Locate battery ground wire attachment point to core support. Battery ground is located between battery box and air cleaner box (Black with red tracer, held to body with 10 MM bolt).

4. Clean/tighten battery ground contact to body.

5. Verify repair.
