DESCRIPTION
On 2004 RX-8 vehicles with leather seats, some customers may complain of noticeable chips and scratches that appear on the front seatback cover, near the headrest where the seatbelt comes in contact with the seatback cover. These chips and scratches may be caused by the seat belt coming into contact with the seatback when using the seat belt or when the rear door is closed.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
NOTE:
The rotor shaped bezel must be handled carefully as it will be reused.
2. For vehicles with leather seats built prior to November 12, 2003, replace the front seatback cover and front seat belt assembly with modified ones. See appropriate Workshop Manual section 08 - FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION / Or replacement of the seat belt assembly and section 09 - FRONT SEAT DISSASEMBLY / ASSEMBLY for replacement of the seatback cover.
3. For vehicles with leather seats built between November 12, 2003 and December 15, 2003, replace only the front seatback cover with a modified one. See appropriate Workshop Manual Section 09 -
4. Verify repair.
