Removal and Installation

A/C UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Discharge the refrigerant.
3. Drain the engine coolant.







4. Disconnect from the A/C unit in the order indicated in the table.

CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.

5. Remove the following parts:
1. Front doors
2. Ashtray panel (See CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3. Console
4. Shift lever component (MTX)
5. Selector lever component (ATX)
6. Decoration panel
7. Front scuff plate
8. Front side trim
9. Glove compartment




10. Shower ducts (LH, RH)
11. PASSENGER JUNCTION BOX (PJB)
12. Car-navigation unit
13. Lower panel
14. Column cover
15. Steering shaft (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/ INSTALLATION.)
16. A-pillar trim
17. Center panel module
18. Windshield wiper arm and blade
19. Cowl grille
20. Cowl panel
21. Windshield wiper motor

6. Remove the A/C unit installation nut from the engine compartment, then remove the A/C unit.

CAUTION: If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise or other malfunction could occur. Always plug open fittings immediately after removing any refrigeration cycle parts.




7. Remove the rear heat duct (1).
8. Disconnect the drain hose connected to the A/C unit.
9. Remove the nuts and bolts for installing the dashboard to the body.
10. Remove the dashboard with A/C unit.
11. Disconnect the air mix wire from the air mix link and wire clamp.
12. Disconnect the airflow mode wire from the airflow mode sub link and wire clamp.
13. Disconnect the following connectors:
- Blower motor connector
- Evaporator temperature sensor connector
- Air intake actuator connector
- Resistor connector

14. Remove the heater case.




Type A
1. Remove the screws.




Type B
1. Remove the screws.
2. Pull up tab A in the direction shown by the arrow in the figure and remove it from the A/C unit.
3. Pull up tabs B in the direction shown by the arrow in the figure and remove it from the A/C unit.

15. Remove the nuts and bolts for installing the A/C unit to the dashboard.
16. Install in the reverse order of removal.
17. Perform the refrigerant system performance test.

A/C Unit Installation Note




1. When replacing the A/C unit or evaporator, add compressor oil to the refrigerant cycle.

Supplemental oil amount (approx. quantity)
25 ml (25 cc, 0.8 fl oz)

2. Tighten it to the right so that it is flush to the contact surface.
