APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

2003 - 2006 Mazda6 vehicles with 2.3L engine

DESCRIPTION

When driving in hot weather and high altitude conditions, some vehicles may experience hesitation/rough idle. In some cases the engine may quit and may not restart.

Conditions:

^ Elevation of 5,000 feet or greater

^ Ambient temperature of 90 degrees F or greater

^ Driving up a 7-8% grade

The fuel pump design has been change to eliminate cavitation.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired according to the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify concern.

2. Replace fuel pump with a new part according to the Workshop Manual (Section 01-14 FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

3. Verify repair.
