Attachment II - Procedures and Installation of Label

A. VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Verify that the vehicle is within the following ranges:

^ 2005 Miata (Manual Transmission vehicles only) VIN Range: (JM1NB35**50410210 - 412044)

- If the vehicle is within the above range, proceed to step 2.

- If the vehicle is not within the above range, return the vehicle to the customer or inventory.





2. Perform a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry using your eMDCS System and inspect vehicle for an Authorized Modification Label SSP 62 attached to the vehicle's hood or bulkhead. Refer to eMDCS System - Warranty Vehicle Inquiry Results table.

NOTE:
Verify SSP number as the vehicle may have multiple SSPs.

B. REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the glove compartment.

a. Bend stoppers inward, then remove.





b. Lower the glove compartment and disconnect the clip.

c. Slide the glove compartment to the right to disengage the pin.

d. Remove glove compartment from instrument panel.

2. Remove the keyless control module.

a. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

NOTE:
Before disconnecting battery, record customer radio station presets.

b. Disconnect the keyless control module connector.





c. Remove nut to remove keyless control module and bracket as a unit.





d. Remove screw attaching keyless control module to bracket.





e. Remove bracket.

3. Install modified keyless control module in reverse order of removal.

4. Install glove compartment in reverse order of removal.





5. Perform keyless control module ID register procedure. The procedure for registering the transmitter ID code into a keyless control module is shown.

CAUTION:
Since there is concern of incorrect registration of other transmitters ID codes, do not perform this procedure on more than one vehicle at a time. Ensure other transmitters are not being operated in the vicinity during keyless control module ID register procedure.

6. Confirm lock and unlock function by pushing lock and unlock on door switch.

C. AUTHORIZED MODIFICATION LABEL INSTALLATION

Complete an "Authorized Modification Label" with the SSP number written on the sticker and affix it to the driver's door. Refer back to the illustration under "A. VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE".
