Bulletin No.: 02-005/08Last Issued: 6/3/2008
Subject:
NOISE FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE / STABILIZER CONTROL LINK BROKEN
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2004-2008 RX-8
DESCRIPTION
Some customers may complain of an unusual noise from the front of the vehicle. The plastic insert connecting the stabilizer control link ball joint to the control link may crack (1) and become separated (2).
As a result, the stabilizer bar is not connected to the front lower arm, causing the noise. Steering and/or handling is not effected under normal driving conditions.
As a mass-production change, the design of the front stabilizer control link has been modified. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace left and right stabilizer control links with modified ones. Refer to Workshop Manual section 02-13 FRONT STABILIZER REMOVAL / INSTALLATION.
3. Verify repair.
