DESCRIPTION





Some vehicles may experience a MIL illumination with DTC P0441 stored in PCM memory. This may be caused by a stuck (closed) purge solenoid valve.

^ DTC P0441: Evaporative emissions control system incorrect purge flow.

The purge solenoid valve manufacturing process has been changed to eliminate this concern.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Perform airflow inspection of purge solenoid valve according to appropriate Workshop Manual.

- If purge solenoid valve is found to be stuck closed, proceed to Step 3.

- If purge solenoid valve is not found to be stuck closed, refer to appropriate Workshop Manual (on MS3) for additional diagnostics.

NOTE:
Be aware that the Workshop Manual diagnostic procedures for P0441 have been revised (see Service Bulletin 01-029/08, issued 04/28/08). Refer to the electronic Workshop Manuals on MS3 for updated diagnostic procedures. Do not use the printed Workshop Manuals for P0441 diagnostics.

3. Replace purge solenoid valve according to appropriate Workshop Manual.

4. Verify repair.
