DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a squeaking noise coming from the leather seats. This noise may be caused by the leather seat surfaces contacting each other.
Customers having these concerns should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer complaint.
2. Apply masking tape around surface areas A, B, C & D where silicone grease will be applied.
^ Area A - Center console and cushion contact each other (front seat).
^ Area B - Cushion and seatback contact each other (front seat).
^ Area C - Seatback and trunk contact each other (rear seat).
^ Area D - Cushion and seatback contact each other (rear seat).
CAUTION:
^ Do not spray silicone grease inside vehicle cabin because it could cause electrical problems.
^ Do not spray silicone grease onto electrical parts of the seat or the switch inside the seat belt.
^ Silicone grease can be difficult to remove once it is applied. Do not allow silicone grease on the carpet.
3. Apply silicone grease to areas (A, B, C & D), spraying over each area 2-3 times.
4. Using a heat gun, apply heat to silicone until silicone is no longer sticky to the touch.
CAUTION:
DO NOT allow the heat gun to get too close to the surface of the seat. Too much heat may discolor the seat surface.
5. Verify repair.
