HARD TO SHIFT INTO 1ST AND/OR 2ND GEAR

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience hard shifting into 1st and/or 2nd gear. This may be caused by uneven wear of internal select lever plastic parts. The plastic parts may wear unevenly due to frequent reverse gear shifting without sufficient downward force on the shift knob. Shifting into reverse requires the driver to push the shift knob downward.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Replace select lever according to Workshop Manual (section 05-16 SHIFT MECHANISM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [A26MX-R]).

3. Verify repair.
