Oscilloscope Patterns and Waveforms

Inspection Using An Oscilloscope (Reference)


Ignition coil control signals




- PCM terminals
- No.1 cylinders: 2BE (+) - body ground (-)
- No.2 cylinders: 2BF (+) - body ground (-)
- No.3 cylinders: 2BG (+) - body ground (-)
- No.4 cylinders: 2BB (+) - body ground (-)
- No.5 cylinders: 2BC (+) - body ground (-)
- No.6 cylinders: 2BD (+) - body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 20 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

Purge solenoid valve control signal




- PCM terminals: 1 BF (+) - body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 2.5 V/DIV (Y), 20 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load, during purge control)

CKP sensor signal




- PCM terminals: 2Y (+)-body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 2 V/DIV (Y), 10 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load) (-)

- PCM terminals: 2Z (+)-body ground (-)




- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 5 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

Generator output voltage signal




- PCM terminals: 2AU (+)-body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 5 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

Fan control signal




- PCM terminals: 1 U (+)-body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 2 V/DIV (Y), 0.2 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

Field coil control signal




- PCM terminals: 2AP (+)-body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 0.5 V/DIV (Y), 5 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

CMP sensor signal (+)




- PCM terminals (+)
- CMP sensor (left bank): 2AA (+)-body ground (-)
- CMP sensor (right bank): 2AD (+)-body ground(-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 1 V/DIV (Y), 20 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)


CMP sensor signal (-)
- PCM terminals




- CMP sensor (left bank): 2AB (+)-body ground (-)
- CMP sensor (right bank): 2AE (+)-body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 1 V/DIV (Y), 20 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

Fuel injection signals




- PCM terminals
- No.l: 21 (+) - body ground (-)
- No.2: 2J (+) - body ground (-)
- No.3: 2K (+) - body ground (-)
- No.4: 2E (+) - body ground (-)
- No.5: 2F (+) - body ground (-)
- No.6: 2G (+) - body ground (-)
- Oscilloscope setting: 2.5 V/DIV (Y), 10 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

HO2S signals




- PCM terminals
- Front HO2S (right bank): 2AK (+)-body ground(-)
- Front HO2S (left bank): 2AL (+)-body ground (-)
- Rear HO2S (right bank): 2AG (+)-body ground(-)
- Rear HO2S (left bank): 2AH (+)-body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 0.5V/DIV (Y), 500 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)

HO2S heater control signal




- PCM terminals
- Front HO2S heater (right bank): 2AW (+)-body ground (-)
- Front HO2S heater (left bank): 2AS (+)-body ground (-)
- Rear HO2S heater (right bank): 2AT (+)-body ground (-)
- Rear HO2S heater (left bank): 2AO (+)-body ground (-)

- Oscilloscope setting: 5 V/DIV (Y), 500 minutes/DIV (X), DC range
- Vehicle condition: Idle after warm up (no load)
