TSB: 04-008/06

2007 CX-7 2006-2007 MX-5 - ABS/DSC ACTIVE COMMAND ON M-MDS - FALSE DTC C1096 - SERVICE TIP

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2006-2007 MX-5
2007 CX-7

DESCRIPTION

When operating the ABS/DSC motor using the active command function on M-MDS (Mazda Modular Diagnostic System), do not allow the motor to operate for more than 15 minutes. If the ABS/DSC motor is allowed to operate for more than 15 minutes, the motor temperature will increase and the protection circuit functions and disables ABS/DSC motor operation. If this occurs, the ABS and brake warning lights illuminate and DTC C1096 is stored in memory.

This symptom is not a problem and can be corrected using the following procedure.

CORRECTION PROCEDURE

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF, then restart the engine. Drive the vehicle at a very low speed, then confirm that the ABS warning light and the brake warning light have gone off (ABS and brake warning lights will illuminate during bulb check when engine is started, this is normal.)

2. Delete the DTC code using M-MDS.
