DESCRIPTION

Some customers may complain that the LED light on the retractable type keyless transmitter does not illuminate and the transmitter does not work at all. This is caused by poor contact between the transmitter and the battery. The production procedure has now been improved to correct this problem.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Press the "UNLOCK" button on the transmitter and check if the LED (A) on the transmitter illuminates or not.

^ If it does illuminate, this repair information does not apply. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-14 SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING CHART [KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM].

^ If it does not illuminate, go to the next step.

3. Remove the battery from the transmitter. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-14 TRANSMITTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT [WITH KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM].

4. Wrap the tip of a small flat screwdriver with vinyl tape (A), and use it to lift up the 3 battery terminals (B) on the circuit board approximately 30 degrees to the plane.

NOTE:
In order to achieve enough pretension, it is necessary to bend the terminals approximately 30 degrees.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage any element and/or printed pattern on the circuit board. Also, avoid bending the terminals too much as this may break it.

5. Reinstall the battery in the transmitter. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-14 TRANSMITTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT [WITH KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM].

A: Upper side (+)

B: Bottom side (-)

NOTE:
Before installation, wipe both sides of the battery with a clean, dry cloth to clean the terminals.

6. Press the buttons on the transmitter and check if the LED on the transmitter illuminates.

^ If it does not illuminate, replace the battery with a new one.

^ If it still does not illuminate with a new battery, replace the transmitter with a new one, and follow the transmitter registration procedure. Refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-14 IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM COMPONENT REPLACEMENT/KEY ADDITION AND CLEARING.

7. Verify repair.
