Road Test

ROAD TEST [FS5A-EL]

Road Test Preparation
1. Inspect the engine coolant. (See COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [L3].) (See ENGINE COOLANT PROTECTION INSPECTION [L3] In Cooling System.)
2. Inspect the engine oil. (See ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL INSPECTION [L3] In Engine.)
3. Inspect the ATF level. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (ATF) INSPECTION [FS5A-EL].) Automatic Transmission/Transaxle [FS5A-El]
4. Inspect the idle speed. (See ENGINE TUNE-UP [L3] In Maintenance.)
5. Inspect the ignition timing. (See ENGINE TUNE-UP [L3] In Maintenance.)
6. Bring up the engine and transaxle to normal operating temperature.

D Range Test
1. Perform road test preparation. (See ROAD TEST [FS5A-EL].) Road Test
2. Shift the selector lever to D range.
3. Accelerate the vehicle at half and wide open.
4. Verify that 1->2, 2->3, 3->4 and 4->5 upshifts and downshifts are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table below.
^ If there is any malfunction, inspect the TCM and ATX. (See TCM INSPECTION [FS5A-EL].) TCM Inspection
5. Drive the vehicle in 5GR, 4GR, 3GR, and 2GR and verify that kickdown occurs for 5->4, 4->3, 3-2, 2->1 downshifts, and that the shift points are as shown in the table below.
^ If there is any malfunction, inspect the TCM and ATX. (See TCM INSPECTION [FS5A-EL].) Automatic Transmission/Transaxle [FS5A-El]
6. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that engine braking effect is felt in 2GR, 3GR, 4GR and 5GR.

7. Drive the vehicle and verify that TCC operation is obtained. The operation points must be as shown in the table below.

M Range Test
1. Perform road test preparation.
2. Shift the selector lever to M range.
3. Verify that 1->2, 2->3, 3-4 and 4->5 upshifts and 5-4, 4-3, 3-2, and 2-0 downshifts are obtained by manual shifting of the selector lever forward and back.
^ If there is any malfunction, inspect the TCM and ATX. (See TCM INSPECTION [FS5A-EL].) TCM Inspection
4. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that 5-4, 4-43 3-2, 2->1 and 3-0 downshifts are obtained. The shift points must be as shown in the table below.

5. Decelerate the vehicle and verify that engine braking effect is felt in all gears.

6. Drive the vehicle and verify that TCC operation is obtained in 4GR and 5GR. The operation points must be as shown in the table below.

P Position Test
1. Shift into P position on a gentle slope.
2. Release the brake and verify that the vehicle does not roll.
^ If the vehicle rolls, inspect the ATX.
