Removal and Replacement
STARTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION[L3, AJ]WARNING: When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with starter terminal B generates sparks. This can cause personal injury, tire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the battery before performing the following operation.
L3
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the under cover.
4. Remove the clutch release cylinder with the pipes still connected. (MTX)
5. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Starter installation note
NOTE: If there is peeling on or damage to the insulator, attach a new insulator using the following procedure:
1. Peel off the insulator from the starter completely using a scraper.
2. Degrease the insulator attachment area.
3. Attach a new insulator to the starter.
AJ
1. Remove the battery and the battery tray.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Disconnect the selector cable and the selector cable bracket. (ATX)
4. Position the harness bracket out of the way. (ATX)
5. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
